Maintenance Technician

Job Summary:
The Maintenance Technician at Southern States LLC is responsible for setting up and operating various machine tools, fitting and assembling parts to fabricate or repair machine tools and maintain industrial machines. This role involves installing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems and components in industrial machinery and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Visually inspect and test machinery and equipment to detect malfunctions and discuss machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problems or repair machines.
- Dismantle machines or equipment, replace defective parts and motors, and adjust feed mechanisms to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Inspect machinery's electrical wiring, switches, and controls for safe operating conditions, grounding, and adjustment.
- Operate cutting torches or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts, and connect wire to motors, fixtures, and other electrical equipment.
- Install and repair electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment.
- Lay out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repair and replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
- Replace faulty electrical components of machines, such as relays, switches, and motors, and position sensing devices.
- Inspect and measure machine parts to detect wear, misalignment, or other problems, and realign and adjust machine components, such as spindles and clutches.
- Replace electric motor bearings and rewire motors, and plan the layout of wiring and install wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings.
- Install, program, or repair automated machinery and equipment, such as robots, CNC machine tools, or programmable controllers.
- Push buttons and press keys on robot controllers, teach pendants, and programmable controllers to program automated machinery, test for malfunctions, and verify repairs.
- Modify computer-controlled motion of robots or CNC machine tools, and diagnose and repair or replace faulty electronic components, such as printed circuit boards.
- Set up and operate machine tools, such as lathes, grinders, drills, and milling machines, to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs, and fixtures, and tools.
- Maintain a working area in a safe, clean, and orderly condition.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); four to five months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Mathematical skills: ability to convert decimal and fractional dimensions, add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, and decimals, and use mathematical and geometric devices, such as calculators, protractors, scales, measuring tapes, etc.
- WorkKeys ACT Score (Applied Math – 3, Graphic Literacy – 4, Workplace Observation – 2).
