Job Summary:

As a key member of the Cardiovascular Healthcare team at Kaiser Permanente, you will provide high-quality cardiovascular care to our members in a cost-effective manner, adhering to accepted professional practice standards. Your expertise will be essential in evaluating patients for appropriateness of workup and treatment plans, ensuring the appropriate level of care is provided. You will collaborate with the Cardiovascular Service line and other healthcare team members to deliver comprehensive outpatient cardiovascular care.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough reviews of cardiac patients to assess the need for workup and treatment plans, ensuring the most effective care is provided.
  • Perform cardiology consultations when indicated or requested, including completing histories and physicals, reviewing cardiac studies, ordering diagnostic studies and medications, and providing pre-procedure education.
  • Collaborate with the Cardiovascular Service line to provide comprehensive outpatient cardiovascular care, including initial consultation/evaluation and ongoing management of chronic cardiovascular disease.
  • Provide follow-up care for patients discharged following cardiac procedures and those requiring ongoing cardiac outpatient care, including ordering tests and medications, ordering therapy and rehabilitation services, and providing post-procedural education.
  • Perform other duties as requested, including actively participating in message management and responding to patient needs as determined by a supervising physician.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum three years of experience in cardiovascular, critical care, or emergency room settings as a PA/NP, or three years in Cardiology as a PA/NP, or three years as a Registered Nurse in Cardiology or Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) or Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit (CVPCU) or Cardiovascular Lab (CVL).
  • Graduate of an ANA-approved Nurse Practitioner or AMA-approved Physician Assistant program or equivalent requirements to meet State licensure.
  • High school diploma or GED.
License, Certification, Registration:
  • This job requires credentials from multiple states. Credentials from the primary work state are required before hire. Additional Credentials from the secondary work state(s) are required post-hire.
  • Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner License (Washington) within 6 months of hire AND Nurse Practitioner National Certificate AND Registered Nurse License (Washington) within 6 months of hire AND Registered Nurse License (Oregon) within 6 months of hire AND Nurse Practitioner License (Oregon) within 6 months of hire OR Physician Assistant License (Washington) within 6 months of hire AND Physician Assistant National Certificate AND Physician Assistant License (Oregon) within 6 months of hire.
  • Drug Enforcement Administration Registration.
  • National Provider Identifier required at hire.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 3 months of hire.
Additional Requirements:
  • Experience interpreting electrocardiograms and cardiology stress tests.
  • Thorough knowledge of cardiovascular diseases and their medical/surgical treatment, as well as working knowledge of state health care laws, licensing board regulations, and controlled substance regulations.
  • Ability to assess, diagnose, and plan effective treatment for cardiovascular disease and injuries, as well as the ability to use appropriate procedural/testing equipment and interface with the cardiovascular team and support staff.
  • Compact License is acceptable in lieu of a Washington RN license.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum five years of experience in cardiovascular, critical care, or emergency room settings as a PA/NP.
