Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Asset Protection Department Leader to join our team at Kroger. As a key member of our asset protection team, you will be responsible for leading and managing the Asset Protection department to ensure the safety and security of our stores, employees, and customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management
    • Supervise and coach direct reports to ensure they are performing their duties effectively and efficiently.
    • Complete performance reviews and provide feedback to direct reports to help them grow and develop in their roles.
  • Customer Service and Sales
    • Deliver and encourage other associates to deliver excellent customer service to ensure a positive shopping experience for our customers.
    • Maximize sales and sales margins by implementing effective sales strategies and techniques.
  • Asset Protection and Security
    • Reduce customer and associate dishonesty by identifying high theft areas and investigating and apprehending individuals involved in internal and external theft.
    • Monitor large shrink areas in stores and implement strategies to minimize losses.
    • Provide credible court testimony as needed.
  • Operational Excellence
    • Implement corporate and divisional service, merchandising, and operating requirements to ensure compliance and excellence.
    • Maintain knowledge of corporate and divisional merchandising plans, expectations, and timetables.
    • Achieve department and store financial objectives and goals.
  • Communication and Collaboration
    • Develop and implement effective communication strategies to ensure seamless collaboration with other departments and teams.
    • Participate in safety meetings and co-chair/attend shrink meetings to ensure a safe and secure work environment.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) plus one year experience in retail asset protection or a combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Skills and Qualifications
    • Ability to pass a drug test.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
    • Ability to handle sensitive information while maintaining a high degree of confidentiality.
    • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and projects.
    • Familiarity with asset protection terms and processes.
    • Ability to make independent judgments with minimal supervision.
    • Ability to continue education.
    • Ability to pass a criminal background check.
    • Valid driver's license.
    • Ability to pass all state and federal private security requirements for licensing or certification.
