Oversees both inpatient and outpatient medication therapies as necessary, collaborating with relevant healthcare professionals to identify alternatives when required, thereby guaranteeing the highest standard of patient care.


Key Responsibilities:
Interprets and processes medication orders, updating computerized patient medication records.
Prepares and dispenses medications, including sterile, chemotherapy, and parenteral nutrition formulations.
Distributes controlled substances to clinical areas and maintains accurate documentation.
Conducts pharmacokinetics consultations as requested during shifts to determine appropriate medication dosing.
Educates patients and their families regarding their medications.
Offers clinical advice and clarification to healthcare providers; recommends suitable, cost-effective therapeutic options to medical staff.

Required Qualifications:

Essential:

Graduation from an accredited School of Pharmacy (Pharm D or BS Pharm) recognized by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) and licensure with the State Board of Pharmacy.

Comprehensive understanding of pharmacy principles, methodologies, and techniques necessary for delivering general pharmacy services and adapting practices for specific medical scenarios.


Infection Control Training:
Initial and ongoing education regarding infection control protocols.

Training may encompass, but is not limited to, bloodborne pathogens, bodily fluids, and biohazardous materials as they pertain to daily responsibilities.


Patient Engagement:
Periodic interaction with patients.
