About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Per Diem Nursing Assistant to join our team at NYU Langone Medical Center. As a key member of our Centralized Nursing Service, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will assist in implementing the nursing process by providing direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse. You will help maintain a safe and orderly patient care environment, ensuring that patients receive high-quality care.

Responsibilities:

  • Admission/Transfer/Discharge Support: Assist with patient admission, transfer, and discharge processes, including orienting patients to the hospital environment, providing toileting supplies, and safeguarding personal property.
  • Patient Rounds and Comfort: Conduct regular patient rounds to ensure patients' comfort, safety, and personal needs are met, responding promptly to call lights and addressing any concerns.
  • Caregiving Duties: Provide basic hygiene care, assemble oxygen and suction set-ups, prepare patients for meals, and assist with simple treatments as directed by the RN.
  • Maintenance and Organization: Maintain a clean and safe patient environment, change linen according to policy, and take vital signs as needed.
  • Communication and Teamwork: Establish effective relationships with staff, patients, and families, communicating clearly and compassionately to meet their needs.

Requirements:

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; Certified Nursing Attendant program or 6 months relevant experience preferred.
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
  • Skills: Strong communication and customer service skills; working knowledge of English; other languages an asset.

Compensation and Benefits:

We offer a competitive hourly rate of $24.67-$25.77, commensurate with experience, education, and qualifications. Our comprehensive benefits package includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, retirement savings plan, paid time off, and more.
