The Radiology cardiac stress test/pacemaker nurse plays a vital role in the UCSF Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging care team, working alongside registered nurses, radiology/nuclear medicine technologists, cardiovascular technicians, nurse practitioners, medical students, medical residents, medical fellows, and attending physicians.
Key Responsibilities- Perform a range of cardiovascular procedures under supervision, ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of patients through the department.
- Develop and implement systems to assure the smooth, efficient flow of both inpatients and outpatients, considering the psychosocial and confidentiality needs of patients and families.
- Provide education to patients and families regarding cardiovascular and radiologic diagnostic procedures, and oversee the management of patient handoffs to ancillary personnel.
- Administer vasoactive medications and cardiopulmonary monitoring during various cardiovascular diagnostic tests, and monitor pacemaker patients during MRI exams.
- Conduct thorough discharge assessments and teaching to patients who have undergone cardiovascular diagnostic testing or imaging within the radiology department.
- Four (4) years of recent Interventional Radiology experience.
- Two (2) years ICU/ER experience.
- Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California.
- Active American Heart Association CPR Certification.
- Active American Heart Association ACLS Certification.
