Pharmacy Technician Job Description

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist pharmacists in filling prescription items, adhering to state board of pharmacy regulations.
  • Maintain a safe and clean pharmacy environment by following procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Collaborate with leadership to ensure accurate medication packaging and labeling.
  • Operate automated machinery for pre-sorting and packaging medications.
  • Fill exception trays with the correct medication.
  • Transition Amazon Pharmacy orders through various workflow stages, from initial dispense to quality control.
  • Count and fill prescription vials, affixing labels on bulk prescription items.
  • Pack and ship completed orders, including printing and affixing labels on dispenser and shipping boxes.
  • Sort and triage boxes for shipping at the right time.
  • Support the distribution manager and pharmacists with receiving, shipping, counting, and packing.
  • Clean and maintain equipment and work areas.
  • Package medications for dispensing and delivery.
Physical Requirements:
  • Standing, bending, reaching above the head, kneeling, crouching, and/or stretching during shifts lasting up to 12 hours.
  • Lifting and moving products up to 49 lbs in weight.
  • Manual dexterity of hands and wrists.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Active and unrestricted in-State Board of Pharmacy License (Pharmacy Technician, Trainee, or Assistant Licenses).
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 6+ months of experience working with computer and web-based tools.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors, read and understand English language labeling on product cartons and prescription labels.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB or NHA).
  • Demonstrated ability to work as an effective team member.
  • Demonstrated organization skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to recognize and identify patient medications.
  • 6+ months of experience working with computer and web-based tools.
  • Experience working under pressure in a fast-paced work environment while consistently meeting standards for productivity and quality.
