The Job

We are seeking a skilled Truck Driver to join our team, with a Class B CDL license or higher. As a Truck Driver, you will be responsible for picking up and delivering food donations across the five boroughs, working independently in a fast-paced environment, and maintaining a neat appearance both for yourself and assigned equipment.

Your Responsibilities

  • Picking up and delivering food donations in a safe and timely manner, complying with safe food-handling practices and ServSafe requirements.
  • Operating a City Harvest truck safely and in compliance with motor vehicle laws, driving with confidence in skills and knowledge of different routes.
  • Completing all assignments on the route, accepting overtime assignments and special assignments when required, and complying with attendance policy.
  • Communicating information about the route to the Manager – Food Transport and Food Transport management, ensuring that all communications with dispatch are constructive and professional.
  • Collecting signatures on invoices, completing trip reports, logbooks, and other required paperwork, ensuring that all paperwork is neat, legible, accurate, and timely.
  • Maintaining positive relationships with co-workers and others, willingly assisting co-workers when necessary, and establishing a strong team player attitude.

Your Requirements

  • A valid Class B CDL license or higher, with no serious moving violations within the last 36 months, and no preventable DOT accidents within the last 12 months.
  • Basic math skills and computer skills, as well as strong customer service and conflict avoidance/resolution skills.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent, some college preferred, with two or more years of commercial driving experience incomparable equipment.
  • Ability to regularly lift a minimum of 25 lbs. of weight, with occasional bending/kneeling to pick up food donations for bagging, and regular walking into and occasionally climbing stairs at donors' facilities.
  • Flexibility to work over normal business hours, with a competitive salary range estimated at $65,000 - $85,000 per year, based on location and experience.
