Resident Instructor

Community Residences is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Resident Instructor to join our team. As a key member of our residential program, you will play a vital role in creating a nurturing and supportive environment for individuals with developmental disabilities.
Job SummaryThe Resident Instructor will be responsible for providing direct care and support to clients, including creating a positive learning environment, implementing individualized plans of care, and promoting independence and self-advocacy. This is a dynamic and rewarding role that requires a strong commitment to providing exceptional care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement individualized plans of care to promote independence and self-advocacy
- Provide direct care and support to clients, including assistance with daily living activities, medication administration, and transportation
- Monitor and report changes in client behavior, medical conditions, and other relevant information to the Program Manager and RN
- Participate in training opportunities and maintain required certifications and training
- Assist with household management, meal preparation, and maintenance of a safe and clean living environment
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, families, and community partners
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
- At least two years of experience in the field of human services, preferably in a residential setting
- Valid CT driver's license and good driving record required
- Ability to lift and transfer 70-75 pounds and perform active work, both inside and outside of the program
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with individuals with developmental disabilities and their families
