About the Role

As a technology leader in the automotive industry, HARMAN is seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer, Acoustics and Audio Systems to join our team. This role will focus on shaping the future of holistic in-car end-user experiences through the integration of Harman's cross-domain Automotive products and solutions.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in acoustics engineering, with experience in designing and developing high-quality audio systems for vehicles. They will work closely with global teams to define project scopes, investigate new audio-related technologies, and create novel solutions to issues in acoustic systems for the automotive environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Define project scopes and work with global teams to plan and specify in-vehicle system integration and design
  • Investigate new audio-related technologies and best practices
  • Participate in research and create novel solutions to issues in acoustic systems for the automotive environment
  • Develop and document worldwide acoustic systems tools and best practices
  • Closely collaborate with internal product and technology departments, architects, and technology suppliers on relevant future technologies and product concepts
Requirements
  • Master's degree in engineering and 8+ years of experience or Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field and 12+ years of experience
  • Specific experience in at least two of the following fields: acoustical engineering, transducer engineering, digital signal processing, amplifier engineering, psychoacoustic, and recording arts
  • Detailed knowledge of acoustic theory, sound reproduction, and sound system tuning
  • Well-founded knowledge in further automotive domains like electronics, DSP software, and mechanics
  • Practical experience and excellent understanding of acoustics systems integration within automotive
