Position Summary:
The Rail Maintenance Technician will assist our Passenger Rail Mechanics in the upkeep and repair of passenger rail cars and locomotives, while also contributing to the maintenance of a tidy and organized work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct cleaning, diagnostics, and repairs on mechanical and electrical systems.
- Support the repair and overhaul processes of passenger railcars and locomotives.
- Operate equipment such as forklifts, oil pumps, and overhead cranes (training provided).
- Maintain the work area through general cleaning and waste disposal activities.
- Document and unload components and supplies, while managing inventory records.
- Load outgoing components and parts onto trucks, ensuring accurate recordkeeping.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Possession of a valid driver's license is mandatory.
- A High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent literacy and reasoning skills) is required.
- Experience and proficiency with hand tools is advantageous.
- A positive employment history is essential.
- Forklift operation experience is beneficial.
- Strong communication and organizational skills are necessary.
- Flexibility in scheduling, including potential overtime, is expected.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment screening process (background check and drug screening) is required.
- Adherence to corporate policies, health and safety protocols, and all relevant local, state, and federal regulations is crucial.
