Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Maintenance Technician to join our team at Warren Woods Public Schools. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of maintenance and repair tasks to ensure the smooth operation of our schools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs to buildings, equipment, and grounds, including plumbing, electrical, and carpentry work.
  • Assist with snow removal and salting of parking lots and sidewalks to ensure safe access to our schools.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on HVAC systems, univent systems, and other equipment to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal performance.
  • Perform minor masonry and concrete repairs to ensure the integrity of our buildings and grounds.
  • Paint and finish walls, ceilings, doors, frames, and trim to maintain a high level of aesthetic appeal.
  • Install and repair doors, windows, and hardware to ensure secure and functional access to our schools.
  • Assist with landscaping and lawn maintenance, including plant material installation, mulching, pruning, and care.
  • Maintain stock of repair parts and purchase new materials as needed to ensure timely completion of maintenance tasks.
  • Assist with moving and transporting furniture, band instruments, appliances, and equipment as needed.
  • Coordinate work with building personnel and the Director of Facilities and Transportation to ensure that repair projects do not interfere with classroom operations.
  • Follow MIOSHA Safety and Health Standards at all times while performing duties to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Guard property against fire, floods, theft, and illegal entry to protect our schools and assets.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required; college or trade school classes preferred.
  • Valid Driver's License required; must be able to drive trucks with 24' long tandem trailers.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 80 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally, including cement and mortar bags.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods in a plow truck or on a lawn mower, and to continuously turn neck to look in all directions.
  • Good organizational skills and ability to independently sort, prioritize, and complete work orders with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work at heights up to 50' using ladders, personnel lifts, and scaffolding.
  • Ability to operate large equipment such as forklifts, backhoes, tractors, and scissor lifts.
  • Ability to solder pipes and install valves and plumbing fixtures, install electrical switches, outlets, ballasts, and breakers.
  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools proficiently.
  • Ability to read and follow Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and cleaning chemical labels.
  • Neat appearance and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the community.
