Senior Programmer Analyst

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Programmer Analyst to join our team at InsideHigherEd. As a key member of our Information Technology Services Department, you will be responsible for providing technical support and expertise in the development, implementation, and maintenance of our enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.

• Collaborate with various departments to develop, analyze, and review reports to fulfill federal, state, and institutional compliance and reporting requirements.
• Conduct data analysis to provide information in support of research projects, data collection, and accountability requirements.
• Create and maintain software applications using high-level programming languages such as Envision, SQL, C#,.Net, ASP.Net, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and protocols such as XML and JSON.
• Troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve system and software problems.
• Conduct ERP system testing and debugging, and identify potential issues with current software updates.
• Identify customizations impacted from software updates, reapplies necessary changes, and prepare customizations for installation.
• Conduct testing and installation of custom programs.
• Provide training to ensure the efficient use of the ERP system and related applications.
• Work independently on highly technical and specialized assignments to keep district staff and enterprise applications functioning and current.
• Recommend standards and procedures within the programming area, including specifications, documentation, and production turnover, and identify potential areas where existing standards and procedures require change.
• Advise appropriate personnel on the implications of new or revised systems.
• Lead programming projects from the initial preparation and planning of the project to the installation and completion of the project.
• Participate with vendors in the assessment of advanced technologies, including beta and field testing.
• Provide planning and technical support for enterprise application, implementation, and modification projects.
• Analyze and evaluate enterprise application changes to the production environment.
• Fulfill department requirements in terms of providing work coverage and administrative notification during periods of illness, vacation, or education.
• Plan and manage assigned tasks and projects.

• Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of applicable experience, or the equivalent education and experience.
• Knowledge of current generation and emerging programming methodology, advanced principles and techniques of computer programming, online programming, and programming documentation.
• Operating procedures of computer systems and related equipment, SQL Server Management Studio, and related data tools such as SQL Server Analysis Services, MS Reporting Services, and Excel.
• Various programming languages, operating procedures of computer systems and related equipment, advanced principles and practices of database management systems, advanced principles of systems analysis, design, and documentation.
• Enterprise Resource Planning, Student Information Systems, Human Resource Systems, and Financial Systems.

The work is performed primarily in an office environment with some travel to different sites. Incumbents may be required to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends.
