Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist RRT to join our team at Asheville Specialty Hospital. As a vital member of our patient care team, you will provide high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care to patients requiring all types of respiratory support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform and document patient assessment, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure.
  • Conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for, and response to, respiratory therapy.
  • Administer respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.
  • Assist with placement of artificial airways and initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
  • Monitor patient for therapeutic response and notify provider and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response.
  • Assist with transportation of ventilator-dependent patients and respond to emergent patient situations.
Requirements
  • Associates Degree in Respiratory Care or completion of a Respiratory Care program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC).
  • Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) and a current North Carolina License issued by the North Carolina Respiratory Care Board (NCRCB).
  • BCLS certification.
  • Preferred: ACLS, PALS, NRP (Pediatric-Perinatal Specialty) certifications.
