Job Summary:

Position Overview:

The certified nurse midwife (CNM) is an advanced practice nurse who is responsible for the assessment, plan, implementation, and evaluation of nurse midwifery care delivered to antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn patients.

The CNM performs patient care in both the outpatient and inpatient setting. The certified nurse midwife provides a full range of women's health services from adolescence, adult to beyond menopause. These services include well-women care, gynecologic and family planning services, preconception care, prenatal, childbirth, and postpartum. Midwifery care includes health promotion, disease prevention, and individualized wellness education and counseling. These services are provided in collaboration with obstetricians in an integrated setting. Position will work weekends on a rotating basis and include call responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive women's health services, including well-women care, gynecologic and family planning services, preconception care, prenatal, childbirth, and postpartum care.

Requirements:

  • Current licensure as a registered nurse (RN) in the state of Maine.
  • Current certification as a certified nurse midwife (CNM).
  • Experience in obstetric care and women's health services.
