Job Summary

The Registered Respiratory Therapist serves as an integral member of the healthcare team at UVA Health Northern VA & Culpeper by establishing a personalized relationship with patients and their support systems, collaborating with physicians and other team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized respiratory plans of care that promote optimal health or a comforting peaceful death.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized respiratory plans of care.
  • Administer and evaluate medication therapies, perform patient transfers, and transport patients via wheelchair, hospital bed, or stretcher to other departments.
  • Communicate individualized plans of care and patient progress to all members of the care team, including patients and their chosen support systems.
  • Maintain clinical and professional competencies according to department policies and engage in self-reflection and personal goal development to enhance knowledge and skills.
Requirements
  • Associate's Degree/Certificate required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Registered by National Board of Respiratory Care and current RCP licensure in applicable state required.
  • BLS required upon hire; ACLS, NRP, and PALS to be completed within 90 days of hire date.

The job requires standing and walking constantly and frequently bending/stooping. Frequent repetitive body movements. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills. Attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs. For any weight over 35 lbs., use Safe Handling Equipment.
