Position Overview

Compensation

The salary for this role ranges from $150,000 to $175,000, plus a performance-based bonus.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Guide and mentor a team of 5-12 backend developers, promoting a culture of collaboration and innovation.
  2. Design and develop robust backend applications utilizing TypeScript, JavaScript, and GraphQL.
  3. Ensure code quality by writing clean, maintainable, and well-documented code in accordance with industry best practices.
  4. Collaborate with frontend developers to facilitate seamless integration between client-side and server-side functionalities.
  5. Develop and implement secure and efficient GraphQL APIs with a focus on performance optimization.
  6. Work alongside the database team to ensure effective data management and retrieval tailored for GraphQL queries.
  7. Conduct code reviews and provide mentorship to junior developers, fostering a supportive development environment.
  8. Engage in system design processes, emphasizing GraphQL architecture and offering technical recommendations.
  9. Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with team members to provide constructive feedback and address any concerns.
  10. Oversee deployment processes to guarantee smooth application delivery.
  11. Participate in agile development methodologies, including sprint planning and retrospectives.

Required Skills

  • Extensive experience in backend development.
  • Proficiency in TypeScript and API development (both GraphQL and RESTful).
  • Strong background in writing tests for APIs using frameworks such as Jest or Mocha.
  • Experience with SQL and ability to write and review SQL queries.
  • Familiarity with databases such as Postgres, Redis, and ElasticSearch/OpenSearch.
  • Knowledge of AWS technologies including OpenSearch, CloudFormation, and Lambda.
  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging capabilities.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in backend system development.
  • 4+ years of experience with GraphQL.
  • 2+ years in a leadership role.

Work Environment

The role requires the ability to sit for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks. Candidates should be able to participate in meetings and training sessions as needed.
