Aquinas Consulting is seeking a skilled Research Lab Associate to join our team at the global R&D headquarters of a top manufacturing firm in the Danbury, CT area.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will work as part of a seven-person team tasked with execution of prototype cell builds to evaluate new materials and cell designs as part of the continual product development process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Building prototype battery cells manually and running detailed lab tests on them
  • Operating laser etching, scanning, and weighing equipment
  • Adjusting and optimizing online anode filler servomotor profiles
  • Setting up, adjusting, and cleaning the KOH and water shot station
  • Placing offline separator paper and applying sealant
  • X-raying filled consols and operating a labeler
  • Using the Keyence Instant Measurement System and semi-auto cutting of separator material
  • Formulating and verifying sealant with a viscometer and measuring console and seal moisture
  • Conducting plant-based testing, including cell loading, test startup, and data retrieval

Requirements:

  • An AS or BS degree in Chemistry or Engineering is preferred, or technical school diploma or commensurate experience
  • Experience in laboratory settings, including data collection and reporting
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and ability to follow chemistry-related written procedures
  • Ability to handle chemicals and work with hazardous materials with proper training and PPE
  • Able to work independently and meet deadlines, with excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes
