Position Overview

OBJECTIVE:

The primary aim of this role is to oversee the Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) of students by working collaboratively with the IEP team, conducting assessments, ensuring the effective delivery of IEP services, and providing direct support to students in achieving their IEP objectives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Advocate for students by maintaining open communication with IEP team members, including educators and families, through various channels.
  • Organize student-centered meetings by managing an online scheduling system.
  • Monitor timelines for due process requirements and manage related documentation.
  • Ensure the accuracy and compliance of due process documents.
  • Collaborate with educators, support staff, service providers, and families to enhance student learning.
  • Deliver direct instruction and support aligned with student IEP goals, including data collection for progress monitoring.
  • Plan and facilitate IEP team meetings and case discussions.
  • Conduct and document special education evaluations in accordance with due process timelines.
  • Guide educational assistants in the implementation of IEP strategies.
  • Foster positive, professional relationships and maintain effective communication with all stakeholders.
  • Exhibit regular and punctual attendance.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

  • Oversee study skills sessions and assist students in achieving organizational objectives.
  • Provide supervision and support to students during lunch periods.
  • Serve as a substitute instructor as needed.
  • Accompany students during community-based learning experiences when required.
  • Perform other job-related tasks as assigned.
  • Participate in parent-teacher conferences.
  • Engage in school events outside of regular hours.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Possession of a valid teaching license in Special Education.
  • If not currently licensed, willingness and eligibility to apply for a Tier 1 or 2 Teaching License.
  • Proficiency in using a computer and relevant software for job tasks.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in Special Education.
  • Valid license in Autism Spectrum Disorder or in the process of obtaining such licensure.
  • Experience working with students on the autism spectrum.
