As a Clinical Instructor, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the education and training of future healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care, including performing physical examinations, treating common health care problems, and counseling patients and families.
- Develop and implement treatment plans, including ordering diagnostic studies and interpreting results.
- Perform procedures such as obtaining specimens, administering injections, and performing skin biopsies.
- Write orders to increase, decrease, or change medication, subject to checking and counter-signing by a physician.
- Initiate consultations and monitor scheduling of patients for special tests.
- Identify and record pertinent progress of patients, updating and summarizing charts, and notifying the responsible physician of changes in the patient's condition.
- Instruct and counsel patients and families regarding preventive care, medical problems, and use of prescribed treatments and drugs.
- Assist with medical research projects, following medical research protocols, and obtaining Investigational Review Board approval for treatment protocols.
- Maintain compliance with established University and department policies and procedures, quality assurance, safety, environmental, infection control, and requirements of accreditation and regulatory agencies.
- Participate in in-service education programs and professional associations.
- Possession of current certificate of completion from an accredited training program.
- Current and valid California State Practitioner licenses, and Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support certifications.
- 2 years' clinical experience is preferred.
The University of Southern California offers a highly competitive salary package with excellent benefits. Compensation is commensurate with experience and qualifications. This position will be hired as a clinical instructor. THIS IS A PRACTITIONER POSITION - You will not be teaching NP or PA students.
