Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Social Worker to join our Immigrant Rights Program, working closely with staff and clients from the Detention and Deportation Defense Initiative. The successful candidate will provide intensive case management for clients, including creating comprehensive release plans and securing referrals for essential services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Meet with AFSC legal staff to determine client needs and priorities
  • Collaborate with DDDI supervising legal staff on social work-related matters
  • Contribute to the practice of others by modeling good practice, leading group supervisions, and providing a mentoring role to Social Work colleagues
  • Provide active case management to AFSC clients, including asylum seekers and survivors of domestic violence
  • Conduct safety planning and risk assessment, crisis intervention, and provide psychoeducation to clients on relevant topics
  • Apply clinical insights in designing a supportive plan for clients in coping with reintegration into the community or impending deportation
  • Oversee and review comprehensive release plans for clients in detention
  • Identify, develop, and maintain resource databases for staff and partners
  • Perform supervision and evaluation of social work interns as appropriate
Requirements
  • Master's degree in social work from an institution accredited by CSWE
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience as a licensed social worker in New Jersey
  • Familiarity with existing resources and public benefit programs in New Jersey
  • Ability to recognize signs of trauma and mental illness
  • Commitment to and experience in working with diverse and multicultural settings
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Bilingual English and Spanish
  • Some familiarity with immigration law and policy preferred
