We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Dietary Assistant to join our team at WVU Medicine. As a Dietary Assistant, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and ensuring the highest quality food service experience.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare all work areas for operation, including filling buckets with sanitizing solution and maintaining sanitizer strength throughout the shift.
- Set up areas, restock, clean, and organize assigned areas, maintaining cleanliness throughout the shift.
- Produce and maintain attractive, appetizing, and quality food and beverage products.
- Utilize leftovers using the first-in, first-out method.
- Follow menu cycles, proper portions, and standardized recipes to prepare food items in batch production.
- Provide quality services to result in customer/patient satisfaction.
- Greet customers, politely ask for orders, and efficiently serve customers.
- Remain focused on the customer and service throughout the encounter.
- Be knowledgeable about food ingredients and allergens, and ask cooks or managers if unsure.
- Address customer complaints in a polite and professional manner, seeking management assistance when needed.
- Remove trash from service areas promptly.
- Clean spills promptly and post caution signage as needed.
- Merchandise areas through clean, uncluttered, attractive, and orderly arrangements of work areas.
- Ensure all activities meet sanitation, safety, and quality control guidelines set forth by departmental policies.
- Properly use cleaning chemicals.
- Document refrigerator, dish machine, or other equipment temperatures as assigned.
- Alert facilities and management of malfunctioning equipment.
- Properly operate, clean, and store equipment in assigned areas.
- Properly clean and sanitize work surfaces throughout scheduled shifts.
- Properly store and label food items and chemicals.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to pull a fully loaded patient meal cart (approximately 250 pounds).
- Ability to stand for entire shifts.
- Ability to effectively work in noisy settings and under deadline pressures.
- Work area may be hot and/or wet.
- Interaction with customers in some assignments.
- Work with cleaning and dishwashing chemicals.
