We are seeking a highly skilled Engineering Technician to join our team at the Navajo Tribal Utility Authority. As an Engineering Technician, you will play a critical role in designing and developing utility lines within the boundaries of our service area and on the Navajo reservation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare engineering line designs, drafting, and feasibility cost estimates for utility lines.
- Work with Navajo Nation chapters to identify customers and route proposed lines on quad maps.
- Prepare 'as-built' drawings for all electric projects.
- Create work orders for projects and monitor and close them once completed.
- Conduct surveys of proposed or existing facilities.
- Assist in obtaining right-of-way, archaeological clearances, and similar field clearances.
- Represent NTUA at meetings with customers, consultants, and contractors.
- Monitor NTUA work orders and provide status reports to supervisors.
- Maintain maps and perform field verifications and checks.
- Mark points of measurement with elevation, station number, or other identifying marks.
- Contact customers to evaluate environmental conditions and obtain necessary information.
- Process joint use applications for telephone and television cable companies.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED Certificate.
- Vocational/Specialized Training in AutoCAD, Engineering, and/or Surveying.
- 2-3 years of experience in drafting, staking, and surveying.
- 2-3 years of experience with electric, gas, water/wastewater operations.
- Experience in engineering work in a utility-related field.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- AutoCAD Software knowledge and experience.
- Navajo speaking is required.
- Valid Driver's License (subject to motor vehicle record review).
