Construction Utility Technician

Job Overview:

This role entails the operation of various contractor equipment and vehicles utilized in construction, upkeep, and repair activities. Key responsibilities include the maintenance of light, street, water, sewer, and storm drainage infrastructures. The chosen applicant may be appointed as an Equipment Operator I depending on their prior experience.

  • Operate vehicles and construction machinery, including dump trucks and skid steers
  • Repair water main leaks and perform other utility maintenance duties
  • Assist with street and sidewalk restoration
  • Manage yard waste and composting service routes
  • Install and maintain traffic control devices
  • Adhere to safety and security protocols

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • A minimum of four years of experience with medium and heavy machinery, including at least two years related to utility or street systems
  • Understanding of heavy equipment operating principles and safety measures
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work in various weather conditions
  • Possession of a CDL A license with N endorsement or the capability to obtain one

Physical Requirements:

The employee must be capable of lifting and moving heavy items, standing for extended periods, and possessing good vision and hand-eye coordination.

Work Conditions:

This position requires outdoor work in diverse weather conditions and may involve exposure to hazardous materials and elevated noise levels.
