Key Responsibilities:
  • Register all patients in accordance with departmental protocols.
  • Accurately complete all necessary admission forms, including consent documentation.
  • Verify medical record status using the Master Patient Index function prior to entering patient information into the system.
  • Ensure accurate entry of patient details, including name and chief complaint.
  • Prepare financial folders for patients and distribute copies to relevant departments.
  • Confirm that each account is billable and that pre-certification requirements are fulfilled as needed.
  • Contact physician offices to gather essential pre-admission information.
  • Ensure patients have the required authorizations for scheduled procedures.
  • Communicate hospital policies regarding payment for services, collect payments, and issue receipts.
  • Request and verify identification and insurance cards during the admission process.
  • Provide each patient with an identification bracelet upon admission.
  • Operate the PBX system, managing incoming calls and transferring them to the appropriate departments or patient rooms professionally.
  • Perform paging duties via hospital systems as required, including emergency code announcements.
  • Ensure physicians are authorized to admit patients and refer any issues to the hospital administrator.
  • Maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff while upholding confidentiality.
Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • One year of experience in a customer service role.
  • Basic understanding of medical terminology.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong time management and multitasking abilities.
  • Proficient in computer literacy.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills appropriate for the role.
  • Hospital Fire and Life Safety Card within 30 days of hire (specific locations only).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in healthcare settings.
  • One year of experience in an admitting office or as a PBX operator.
  • Bilingual skills to effectively communicate with patients and families.
Compensation:
Minimum - $28.00 | Maximum - $28.00
