VCU Health is seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused Patient Registrar to join our team. As a key member of our Patient Appointment Center, you will play a vital role in ensuring seamless patient experiences.
Key Responsibilities- Schedule and register patients for ambulatory appointments, surgeries, and medical consultations.
- Verify pre-authorization and referrals, and confirm patient diagnostic appointments.
- Accurately obtain and document patient information for hospital and physician records, governmental requirements, billing, and third-party payer needs.
- Provide exceptional customer service to patients, addressing their inquiries and concerns in a professional and timely manner.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (work experience may be considered in lieu of credentials with HR approval).
- Strong customer service skills and patient-centered focus.
- Previous experience with third-party medical insurance, HMO, and managed care (preferred).
- Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding (preferred).
- Experience with GE/IDX, Cerner (preferred).
- Associate Degree in Business Management or a closely related field from an accredited program.
- Post-high school education in healthcare or medical billing coursework.
This is a phone-based customer service position, requiring prolonged sitting, reaching, and repetitive motion. The ideal candidate will be able to adapt to a fast-paced environment, handle multiple priorities, and provide exceptional customer service in a noisy environment.
