About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our team at Fourier Ltd, a leading trading firm. As a key member of our research infrastructure team, you will play a critical role in developing and maintaining our Python research environment, designing robust APIs, and collaborating with researchers to implement studies and analytics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement tools and workflows to facilitate exploratory research and boost research productivity.
  • Develop and maintain a Python research environment tailored for data-intensive workloads, ensuring scalability and reliability.
  • Collaborate with researchers to implement studies, analytics, and production models for commodities trading, leveraging modern data technologies such as Postgres, Snowflake, and Redshift.
  • Design and implement web user interfaces for data exploration and delivery of research results, utilizing data visualization tools like Plotly and Dash.
  • Build and optimize data and machine learning infrastructure to make trading datasets accessible and useful, ensuring high performance and efficiency.
  • Manage production workflows for real-time forecasting, modeling, and analytics in a Linux compute environment, ensuring seamless integration with our research infrastructure.
  • Develop systems for backtesting and systematic trading strategies, deploying them into our production environment, and collaborating with the research infrastructure team to leverage our Linux computer cluster.
  • Work with data management teams to refine data acquisition, storage, and accessibility processes, ensuring data quality and integrity.
Requirements
  • Extensive experience with Python and API design, with a proven track record of building and scaling large-scale analysis or machine learning tools.
  • Expertise in modern data technologies, including Postgres, Snowflake, Redshift, Airflow, and dbt.
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools, such as Plotly, Panel, and Dash.
  • Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, including code quality, testing, and collaboration.
  • Experience with strongly typed or compiled languages, such as Java, C++, Go, or Rust.
  • Ability to manage complex projects end-to-end, including stakeholder management, requirement gathering, and mentoring junior engineers.
