Job Summary: As a Linguistics Specialist at UNLV Health, you will play a pivotal role in assessing, treating, and planning for patients with voice, swallowing, and upper airway disorders. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care, education, and training to family members and other professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough assessments and develop tailored treatment plans using goal planning systems.
- Evaluate and diagnose speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders in children and adults.
- Promote alaryngeal voice restoration and treat the full spectrum of voice disorders.
- Care for both inpatients and outpatients, providing exceptional patient-centered care.
- Collaborate with colleagues to deliver high-quality services that meet the needs of diverse patients.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements from the UNLV School of Medicine, ASHA, and the State of Nevada Board of Professional Regulations.
Requirements:
- A minimum of five years of experience in acute and ambulatory care as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
- A Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
- A Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from American Language Speech & Hearing Association.
- Completion of a Clinical Fellowship Year from a recognized program.
- A valid license from the State of Nevada Board of Examination for Audiology and Speech Pathology.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with pediatric populations from birth to 9 years.
- Knowledge and skills in addressing head and neck cancer patients.
- Familiarity with Autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders.
- Up-to-date knowledge of current best practices in speech-language pathology.
Physical Demands:
- This role requires standing, sitting, and walking for extended periods.
- May involve performing repetitive tasks.
- May require working on a special schedule.
Compensation: The estimated annual salary for this position is $83,000 - $123,000 based on national averages and industry standards.
