About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Embedded Software Engineer to join our team at Carnegie Mellon University. As a key member of our team, you will design and develop software prototypes and research methods for software resilience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop software tools and capabilities, including software exception handlers, inter-process communication mechanisms, and software fault monitors.
  • Use static, dynamic, and complexity analysis software tools to identify software weaknesses and areas that need additional design and refactoring.
  • Ensure deterministic performance by architecting and developing software using state-of-the-art techniques.
  • Develop bytecode to test and analyze VHDL for FPGAs and ensure hardware interfaces and controls meet the intended design.

Requirements

  • BS with 8 years of experience, an MS with 5 years of experience, or a PhD with 2 years of experience in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in a collaborative team environment as a software developer, software engineer, or verification engineer.
  • Understanding of the DoD Systems Engineering lifecycle.
  • Proficiency in one or more of the following: C and C++, Python, MATLAB, C#, or JAVA.
  • Experience with modern RTOSs, such as VxWorks and Integrity, and developed and analyzed embedded software.
  • Ability to work 100% of your week onsite at either an SEI or customer facility.
  • Ability to pass a background check and obtain and maintain an active Department of Defense security clearance.
  • Ability to travel (25%) outside your office location to other SEI offices, sponsor sites, conferences, and offsite meetings.
