Job Title: Research Engineer

Transportation Research Center Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Research Engineer to join our team.

Job Summary:

The Research Engineer will be responsible for conducting research and analysis across various disciplines, working with engineers to conduct complex engineering testing and analyses, designing and implementing new standards, protocols, processes, and equipment, and providing technical reports and presentations to assist in planning and direction.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and coordinate project budgets and proposals based on customer objectives and supporting BU inputs.
• Develop test plans and procedures based on customer needs and processes involved.
• Execute tests and write final reports within budget and on-time.
• Develop and use analytical procedures, component, and/or full-scale vehicle testing.
• Conduct research relating to a wide variety of motor vehicle/mobility safety issues.
• Support development and evaluation of basic technical proposals.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or an appropriate comparable discipline.
• Technical knowledge to solve tough substantive, work-related problems.
• Strong communication skills.
• Excellent computer skills, including word processing and data analysis software.
• Basic project management skills.

Working Conditions:

The Research Engineer will work in a standard office, climate-controlled environment and may be exposed to temperatures below 0 degrees and above 95 degrees, inclement weather, and hazardous chemicals, such as gas, oil, and paint.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to remain in a stationary position for an extended period.
• Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment.
• Ability to communicate with customers and co-workers.
• Ability to move objects weighing up to 50 pounds, depending on the specific group/role.
