About the Role

Vertis Therapy is seeking a skilled and dedicated Occupational Therapist to join our team in Washington DC. As a Full Time Occupational Therapist, you will have the opportunity to work with a diverse range of patients and contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and treat patients in accordance with physician orders, utilizing therapeutic procedures to address deficits in self-care skills and daily living abilities.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, incorporating patient goals and needs, and ensuring quality and efficiency in occupational therapy delivery.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to provide support and information within the area of occupational therapy.
  • Conduct thorough functional assessments of patients, including home and vocational needs, and document progress in the patient record.
  • Revise treatment plans as needed, and document the course of treatment in a clear and concise manner.
  • Supervise and instruct Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants in treatment procedures, and orient patients to program services and treatment procedures.
  • Work with nursing staff, patients, and families to maximize patient functional abilities, and establish and instruct patients and caregivers in exercises and therapeutic procedures.
  • Participate in the quality improvement process, responding to results of medical record audits, patient satisfaction surveys, and regulatory requirements.
  • Act in compliance with Vertis Therapy management policies and procedures, state, federal, and professional organization regulatory and professional standards and guidelines.

Requirements

  • Master of Science degree in Occupational Therapy or Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy and five years of direct practice experience.
  • Current license/certification in the state of practice.
  • Prefer current registration with the American Occupational Therapy Certification Board.
  • Demonstrated competency in applying the principles, methods, materials, and equipment used in occupational therapy to the patient population served by this facility.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Adequate computer skills to complete required job duties and computerized documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess patient needs and develop and implement a comprehensive plan of care.
  • Knowledge of accreditation standards and compliance requirements.
  • Promote the programs and services of Vertis Therapy through formal and informal interactions with the community.
