Court Clerk

Under the general direction of the Municipal Court Administrator, the Court Clerk provides support services to the municipal court, including scheduling court dockets, maintaining records of the court process, and coordinating assigned activities with the general public.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide exceptional customer service to citizens, internal, and external customers by responding to requests in a positive, timely, effective, and professional manner.
- Assist the public at the counter or by phone to provide information about court procedures and requirements, payment of fines, court settings, time payments, deferred disposition, and driver safety courses.
- Balance cash drawers daily and process all required reports.
- Perform data entry for court records, including citations, payments, dispositions, and updating case status.
- Prepare letters, notices, and correspondences for incoming mail, new citations, deferred disposition, driving safety courses, juvenile hearings, and juror summons.
- Prepare court dockets for preliminary hearings and trials.
- Maintain trial dockets by preparing dockets, notifying defendants, attorneys, officers, complainants, and witnesses, preparing and mailing subpoenas, selecting names of prospective jurors, preparing summons, and assisting the prosecutor as needed.
- Attend court sessions on scheduled court dates to provide assistance to the judge, prosecutor, attending attorneys, and defendants.
- Update status on warrants and prepare warrants for delinquent citations.
- Maintain confidentiality with regards to all court files.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned.
- Keep the Court Administrator informed of all problems and important issues.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 6 months of responsible clerical experience required.
- Advanced record-keeping skills, including understanding of the Public Information Act.
- Comprehensive knowledge of court procedures and practices.
- Basic accounting and cash management skills for receiving and recording the payment of fines.
- Comprehensive knowledge of problem-solving, conflict management, and customer relations techniques.
- Proficient skills to communicate clearly and concisely in English, both orally and in writing.
- Proficient skills in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Comprehensive understanding of all City safety rules and operating procedures.
