Early Childhood Information & Referral Specialist

At A.B.C.D., Inc, we are dedicated to empowering families through support, resources, and expertise. As an Early Childhood Information & Referral Specialist, you will play a vital role in our team, working closely with families, providers, and community partners to ensure access to quality child care and early education services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide high-quality consultation, support, and education to parents, helping them navigate the child care system and access resources.
  • Manage child care vouchers for families referred by the Department of Children and Families (DCF), ensuring timely and efficient processing.
  • Offer daily telephone call center consultation with parents, providing information and referral services to support their child care needs.
  • Assist parents, providers, and other stakeholders with access and availability of subsidized child care, promoting equity and inclusion.
  • Receive and process referrals from DCF Child Care Coordinators, facilitating the enrollment of at-risk children in quality child care programs.
  • Perform data entry and other related tasks to maintain community, provider, and consumer databases, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Update Information and Referral resource information, helping to identify and promote community resources and educational materials.
  • Assist with marketing A.B.C.D., Inc services to the community, identifying resources and gathering outside information related to early education.
  • Support the production and distribution of written outreach materials, promoting our services and resources to families and providers.
  • Assist with presentation, external meetings, and parent training on early education and related A.B.C.D., Inc services, promoting knowledge and understanding.
  • Contribute to data collection for community, provider, and consumer databases, informing our programming and services.
  • Collaborate with other A.B.C.D., Inc staff to facilitate all services to consumers, ensuring a seamless and supportive experience.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, social work, or a related field, and one to three years of related work experience.
  • Related work experience in community outreach and program promotion is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of early childhood development, including child growth and development, child health, and family dynamics.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to handle large volumes of paperwork and maintain accurate records.
  • Skilled with Microsoft Office and Google systems, with the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies.
  • Demonstrated good communication and customer service skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Ability to travel locally and work occasional evenings/weekends as required.
  • Must be able to work sensitively and effectively with individuals of diverse educational, socio-economic, and cultural backgrounds.
  • Bilingual skills are preferred.
