Job Title: Overnight Nurse

First City Recovery Center is seeking a dedicated and compassionate LPN/RN to join our team. As an Overnight Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care to individuals struggling with substance abuse and mental health issues.

Responsibilities:
  • Deliver client-centered care under the supervision of the Medical Director, Charge Nurse, and Program Director.
  • Work collaboratively with a Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) and a Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Complete necessary documentation within 24 hours of patient admission, including Admission Note, Nursing Assessment, Pre-Screen Testing, HRS Consent Form, Patient Health Examination, and Criteria for Admission Form (if Detox admit).
  • Ensure patient confidentiality in compliance with 42CFR, Part.
  • Exhibit therapeutic rapport with patients by maintaining professional boundaries, respecting personal space, giving patients direct attention, and maintaining rational detachment.
  • Maintain up-to-date training in CPR, First Aid, Crisis Intervention, Infection Control, Fire Safety, and other areas mandated by organizational policies.
  • Communicate effectively with other staff members and demonstrate the ability to work as a team member.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability, responding positively to changing situations in the work setting.
  • Notify physicians of significant changes in status, such as difficulties with detox, medical emergency, change in medical status regarding response to medications, and related challenges.
  • Assist/Report to medical providers, conduct required testing, lab draws, administer medications as ordered/prescribed by the medical provider, follow all medical provider orders, monitor behavioral patterns, medical symptoms, and physical symptoms related to dosage, as well as other symptoms related to drug use (both licit and illicit) and mental health concerns.
  • Obtain vital signs (CIWA/COWS assessments), blood specimens, and urine samples, process point of care urine drug screens per company policy, prepare take-home medication, monitor medication administration closely to prevent diversion, communicate with Clinical staff on client progress, maintain accurate client records, document accurate count of controlled substance medication administration on required documents, order necessary medications, maintain accurate medication inventory records, adhere to all federal, state, local, and accrediting body regulations, maintain medication inventory and audit records, and provide support to the overall operations of the clinic.
Requirements:
  • Licensed to practice nursing in the appropriate state and maintains current licensure per state requirements.
  • Maintains current CPR.
  • Detoxification experience preferred.
  • Current (five-years) of no felonies or substance abuse convictions.
  • Required to have a current TB immunization and/or verification incumbent is a rector.
Education:

A minimum of a Graduated from a community college with a Practical Nursing Degree or RN degree.

Experience:

A minimum of 1 year's experience in a chemical dependency/psychiatric setting, preferably in a detox unit and/or inpatient, partial hospitalization and/or outpatient setting preferred.
