Job Description

The Diagnostic Ultrasound Specialist performs both basic and advanced ultrasound examinations in accordance with established protocols. This role involves capturing high-quality diagnostic images, assisting in interventional procedures, and ensuring the safety and comfort of patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Performing basic and advanced ultrasound scans as per protocols.
  • Reviewing doctor's interpretations and patient files, while monitoring patients during the procedure.
  • Assisting in interventional procedures as needed.
  • Applying knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and imaging techniques to optimize ultrasound image quality.
  • Capturing images using the PACS system and transferring them to physician workstations.
  • Evaluating images to ensure they are diagnostic before releasing the patient.
  • Preparing exam rooms and ensuring necessary inventory and equipment are ready for procedures.
  • Participating in quality control and improvement activities, and reporting equipment failures.
  • Maintaining cleanliness of the work area and equipment to adhere to infection control protocols.
  • Educating patients about the ultrasound procedure and ensuring their safety and comfort.
  • Communicating effectively with patients, families, and colleagues in a compassionate manner.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Experience
  • One year of experience performing ultrasounds is preferred.
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) certification from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or CCI certification.
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Office Suite.
Education & Certifications
  • Graduate of a two-year ultrasound program with clinical and didactic education.
  • ARDMS or CCI certification.
  • Infection Control certification.

Estimated Salary: $60,000 - $80,000 per year, based on location and experience.
