Job Title: Substitute Lunchroom Supervisor

Urbana School District 116 is seeking a qualified Substitute Lunchroom Supervisor to join our team.

Job Summary

The Substitute Lunchroom Supervisor will be responsible for supervising the lunchroom and playground to create a safe and pleasant environment for staff and students. This includes maintaining discipline, assisting younger students, and defusing potential conflicts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain discipline by enforcing safety rules in the lunchroom, playground, and activity room
  • Assist younger students with opening cartons, wrappers, etc., when they are unable to do so independently
  • Be aware of situations arising in the lunchroom or on the playground to defuse them before they escalate
  • Exercise fair but consistent behavior when interacting with students
  • Maintain a good relationship with teachers by keeping them informed about problems or situations involving their students
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience working with children
  • Ability to communicate and interact with children and adults
  • Ability to follow simple instructions, orally or written
Preferred Qualifications
  • Recreation background
  • Knowledge of peer mediation and conflict resolution techniques
  • Knowledge of first aid
Terms of Employment

This is an on-call position, available as needed, from 10:45am to 12:45pm.
