Embedded Systems Firmware Engineer for AI Validation
2 months ago
Etched LLC is at the forefront of developing AI chips that are specifically tailored for distinct model architectures. Our flagship product, Sohu, is designed to exclusively support transformer models, offering significantly enhanced throughput and reduced latency compared to traditional solutions. With Etched ASICs, we enable the creation of innovative products that surpass the capabilities of GPUs, such as real-time video generation and advanced deep reasoning models.
Position: Embedded Systems Firmware Engineer for AI Validation
We are seeking a skilled Embedded Systems Firmware Engineer with a strong background in validating machine learning accelerator silicon, particularly with high-speed interfaces. The successful candidate will be responsible for crafting validation strategies, developing validation tests, and troubleshooting both software and hardware challenges on our custom machine learning accelerator silicon in a laboratory setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop comprehensive validation plans for silicon integration.
- Create and execute tests while diagnosing both software and hardware issues in the lab environment.
- Enhance silicon performance through collaborative hardware-software design efforts.
- Work closely with hardware, firmware, and software teams to understand architecture and specifications.
- Conduct validation tests in simulation and emulation settings prior to silicon arrival.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in silicon validation and debugging.
- At least 2 years of experience with machine learning algorithms, including transformers or CNNs.
- Quick learner with an adaptable mindset.
- Experience with simulation and emulation environments.
- Proficient in C/C++ programming for embedded systems.
- Familiarity with hardware validation and debugging tools (e.g., OpenOCD, Segger, Lauterbach).
- Knowledge of ARM, ARC, Xtensa, or RISC-V architectures.
- Experience with electronic lab equipment such as oscilloscopes and protocol analyzers.
- Understanding of production silicon and system lifecycle.
- Proficiency in SystemVerilog and debugging with waveform analysis.
- Experience with Python for scripting and automation tasks.
- Familiarity with Bazel, Blaze, or Buck build systems.
At Etched LLC, we adhere to the principle of the Bitter Lesson, believing that the majority of advancements in AI stem from leveraging increased FLOPs for training and executing models. We are committed to creating model-specific hardware to maximize FLOPs. As the demand for larger training runs grows, companies are likely to gravitate towards fewer model architectures, paving the way for single-model ASICs.
Our team operates fully in-person, valuing engineering expertise and fostering a collaborative environment where engineering and research intersect. We encourage all technical staff to contribute across disciplines as necessary.
Employee Benefits:
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, with full premium coverage for employees and 90% for dependents.
- Housing subsidy of $2,000/month for employees residing nearby.
- Complimentary daily lunch and dinner at our office.
- Relocation assistance for new team members.
