Substitute Nurse Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Substitute Nurse to join our team at Northwest Independent School District. In this role, you will provide exceptional patient care and support to students and staff members in the absence of the school nurse.
Job OverviewThe Substitute Nurse is responsible for maintaining standard clinic activities, promoting health and well-being, and providing direct patient care utilizing professional assessment skills and established school health protocols.
Responsibilities- Maintain a safe and orderly clinic environment while ensuring confidentiality for all students and staff members receiving care.
- Administer medications and treatments according to NISD guidelines and present a positive role model for students.
- Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities, and assess and document injuries to NISD staff members.
- Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members, and articulate the district's mission and goals.
- Professional Registered Nurse with valid Texas Nursing License and CPR Certification.
- Bachelor's Degree preferred, with five years of nursing experience as an RN and certification by the Texas Department of Health and Human Services for Vision, Hearing, Spinal, and Acanthosis Nigricans (AN) screening preferred.
This position requires emotional control under stress, frequent interruptions, and prolonged use of computers, with exposure to biological hazards, bacteria, and communicable diseases. Must be able to lift 30 pounds and stand for long periods.
Estimated Salary$55,000 - $65,000 per year, depending on experience.
