Nuestra Casa Lending Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Loan Specialist to join our team at Communities Unlimited, Inc. in Brownsville, TX. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and servicing consumer loans, interviewing loan applicants, and evaluating loan applications and creditworthiness.

• Develop and service consumer loans, including interviewing loan applicants and evaluating loan applications and creditworthiness.
• Provide exceptional customer service to borrowers, ensuring their questions are answered and needs are met.
• Maintain accurate and thorough records, and follow all applicable organizational, state and federal policies and regulations.
• Collaborate with colleagues and supervisors to achieve team goals and objectives.
• Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned by supervisor or program director.

• High school diploma required; minimum of an associate degree in accounting, business or related field.
• At least 1 year of experience underwriting and/or servicing loans.
• Experience in a leadership position in non-profit or community-based work a plus.
• Must be English/Spanish bilingual.
• Must have a valid driver's license and reliable personal vehicle for travel to office located in Brownsville, TX.

• A minimum of 1 year of experience in credit/lending at a financial institution.
• Knowledge of fundamentals of credit, lending concepts and practices.
• Demonstrated analytical, accuracy and problem-solving skills.
• Able to work independently, organize and prioritize work.
• Process paperwork accurately and efficiently.
• Effectively communicate in both written and verbal formats.
