Job Description:
The Cybersecurity Specialist position works as a member of the Vulnerability Management Team. The team's primary goal is to maintain the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of State of Michigan data. The Specialist will review and remediate cyber incidents and vulnerabilities found by IT level analysts to IT security specialists and managers. This includes planning, scheduling, implementing, and maintaining scalable vulnerability scans using modern vulnerability management scanning tools for high complexity devices. The Specialist will also provide troubleshooting of technical issues with scans, support vulnerability management scanning and reporting tools, and conduct internal vulnerability audits of servers, network devices, applications, and other devices. Additionally, the Specialist will interface with internal and external auditors, providing detailed information on remediation efforts, and create integration of vulnerability management data with other State of Michigan enterprise services. The Specialist will also conduct data analysis of vulnerability management data, often integrated with other data sources, to measure effectiveness of vulnerability remediation. Data analysis tasks include large datasets, which include structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data. The Specialist will also interface with other agencies to make recommendations on how to improve the security posture and reduce the number of security related vulnerabilities. Furthermore, the Specialist will conduct trend analysis, create dashboards using data scripting to provide metrics on the performance of security responsibilities, controls, and create new reports for management based on those collected metrics across multiple agencies. The Specialist will escalate as appropriate.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct internal vulnerability audits of servers, network devices, applications, and other devices.
Provide detailed information on remediation efforts to internal and external auditors.
Create integration of vulnerability management data with other State of Michigan enterprise services.
Conduct data analysis of vulnerability management data to measure effectiveness of vulnerability remediation.
Interface with other agencies to make recommendations on how to improve the security posture and reduce the number of security related vulnerabilities.
Conduct trend analysis and create dashboards using data scripting to provide metrics on the performance of security responsibilities, controls.
Create new reports for management based on collected metrics across multiple agencies.
Escalate as appropriate.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field.
5+ years of experience in vulnerability management, cybersecurity, or related field.
Strong understanding of vulnerability management scanning tools and techniques.
Excellent communication and analytical skills.
Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with other agencies.
