Job Title: Surgical Technician Service Line Specialist

Join Cynet Health as a Surgical Technician Service Line Specialist and take on a challenging role in our Advanced Endoscopy department.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Surgical Technician to join our team. As a Surgical Technician Service Line Specialist, you will provide technical assistance to operating room physicians and nurses during complex surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical assistance to operating room physicians and nurses during complex surgical procedures.
  • Use physician's preference cards to prepare the operating room for procedures.
  • Maintain and update preference cards and ensure an adequate supply of instruments and supplies.
  • Scrub in and set up instruments and supplies prior to procedures.
  • Prepare sterile field for anticipated instruments and supplies.
  • Assist in draping the patient and operative area, and open and prepare the sterile field with the nurse.
  • Assist in correct identification of operative specimens for laboratory analysis.
  • Remain attentive during surgery, provide additional instruments and supplies as needed, and recognize and correct breaks in sterile technique.
  • Deliver medications to the surgeon and participate in sponge, needle, and instrument counts.
  • Report all drains, packs, implants, etc., to the circulating nurse and assist with application of dressings.
  • Inform appropriate personnel of any potential problems regarding patient or procedure and take emergency action as required.
  • Assist in the post-operative processing of instruments and equipment and clean operating room areas according to policy.
  • Participate in evaluation of new products, methods, or equipment.
  • Serve as a clinical resource for physicians and staff in other departments.
  • Conduct daily discussions with the Supervisor regarding service line needs, including equipment issues, instrument needs, and supply shortages.
  • Act as a liaison between physicians and Supervisor regarding instruments and supplies.
  • Work with other departments and vendors to update tools and supplies.
  • Assist in the training of Surgical Technicians and help with patient transport as needed.
Requirements:
  • Certified Surgical Technician or service line competency achievement.
  • Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Technical assistance skills.
  • Experience in sterile laboratory environments.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge and care for patients across age groups including neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.
  • Sufficient computer skills to check/respond to emails and edit preference cards.
