Position: Orthopedic Surgical Physician Assistant

AP Health is a dedicated private practice consisting of skilled advanced practice providers. We specialize in providing perioperative services to hospitals, surgeons, and surgical centers. Our focus is on collaborating with facilities to deliver exceptional service line coverage through our highly trained Advanced Practice Providers who assist in surgical procedures.

We are currently seeking a seasoned Physician Assistant with a strong background in orthopedics to become part of our esteemed team in Fort Lauderdale, FL. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 2 years of surgical experience, as this role is exclusively focused on surgical responsibilities without any clinic involvement. This position offers a remarkable opportunity to be part of a team committed to delivering high-quality care.

Please note: This is not a travel, locum, placement, or per diem role. AP Health operates as a permanent staffing entity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a Surgical First Assistant in the Operating Room
  • Prepare and position patients under the guidance of the surgeon
  • Perform suturing and retraction of all tissue layers
  • Support intra-operative patient care by executing assigned technical duties
  • Conduct comprehensive and focused histories and physical examinations
  • Participate in rotating on-call duties

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a surgical first assistant
  • Valid Florida State License
  • NCCPA board certification
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications
