About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Animal Care Technician II to join our Insourcing Solutions team in Baltimore, Maryland.

As an Animal Care Technician II, you will be responsible for performing animal husbandry duties, including preparation and changing of animal cages, feeding, and monitoring watering devices.

You will also be responsible for training and mentoring staff, performing daily animal health observations, and maintaining accurate records of animal breeding, housing, and support areas.

In addition, you will assist with restraint, handling, and manipulation of animal species, and participate in breeding and weaning procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform animal husbandry duties, including preparation and changing of animal cages, feeding, and monitoring watering devices.
  • Train and mentor staff on animal care procedures.
  • Perform daily animal health observations and report any abnormal conditions or behavior to the supervisor.
  • Maintain accurate records of animal breeding, housing, and support areas.
  • Assist with restraint, handling, and manipulation of animal species.
  • Participate in breeding and weaning procedures.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalency required.
  • 2-3 years of related experience in animal care, with at least one year of experience working with laboratory animal species.
  • Certification as an Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (ALAT) required.
