The position of Waterfowl Conservation Engineer at Ducks Unlimited, Inc. is an exciting opportunity to join a leading wetlands and waterfowl conservation organization. Located in Grand Island, NE Field Office, this role offers a unique blend of technical expertise and passion for wildlife conservation.

As a Civil Engineer for Wetlands Restoration, you will contribute to the planning, design, and construction of wetland restoration and enhancement projects within the Great Plains Region. This region spans seven states, primarily serving Nebraska, Kansas, and South Dakota.

A minimum salary of $85,000 per year is offered for this position, with a variable compensation incentive program based on experience and education. Additionally, a comprehensive benefit package includes group medical, prescription, dental, and vision insurance, paid vacation, paid sick leave, ten paid holidays, 401(k) plan, and tuition reimbursement.

In this role, you will collaborate with biological staff to prepare proposal scopes of work and budgets. You will also interpret, adapt, and apply principles of engineering, surveying, and construction management to develop comprehensive engineering designs, reports, project plans, and technical specifications.

Responsibilities include participating in project meetings, providing support for permit application development, conducting field inspections, and overseeing construction management as necessary. You will ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and schedules by consultants and contractors, and serve as a contracting officer managing budgets to ensure contract compliance.

This role requires a strong educational background in Civil or Agricultural Engineering or equivalent degree from an EAC/ABET accredited engineering program. At least two years of practical civil engineering experience are required, with certification as a Registered EIT or PE, and willingness to obtain registration in assigned states.

Preferrable qualifications include knowledge of hydrologic modeling, structure hydraulics, open channel flow, earthen dams, spillways, gates, structures, pipes, erosion control, riverbank stabilization, construction staking, inspection, cost estimation, and project management. Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil3D is essential for creating surfaces from ground-based surveys and LiDAR data/maps, developing construction plans and exhibits, and generating earthwork quantities.
