Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Bus Driver Trainee to join our team at Baltimore City Public Schools. As a Bus Driver Trainee, you will be responsible for safely transporting students, faculty, and staff to and from school, field trips, and other events.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate school buses in compliance with laws, regulations, and school policies.
  • Maintain student discipline on the bus and coordinate with school administrators to resolve disciplinary issues.
  • Transport students and faculty members on special field trips and to and from athletic events.
  • Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of buses and report any mechanical issues or malfunctions.
  • Responsible for the cleanliness and appearance of assigned vehicles.
  • Develop emergency evacuation plans for students with disabilities and communicate with school administrators as needed.
  • Attend meetings and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Meets and maintains all qualification and certification requirements for school vehicle drivers.
  • Possession of a valid commercial, Class C Maryland driver's license is required.
  • Knowledge of school safety policies and procedures.
  • Skills in communication and human relations.
  • Ability to pass an annual physical examination and random drug tests for CDL.
