The Nursing Supervisor - Registered Nurse is a licensed nursing professional who operates under the guidance of the Director of Nursing Services.

This role involves assisting in the planning, organization, development, and direction of nursing services to ensure the highest quality of resident care is consistently upheld.


QUALIFICATIONS FOR NURSING SUPERVISOR

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
  • Valid nursing license in the practicing state.
  • Minimum of one year supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in English communication, both verbal and written.
  • Maintains mental, emotional, and physical well-being.

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

OVERVIEW

  • Ensure residents are provided with a clean, safe, and comfortable environment.
  • Initiate resident Care Plans upon admission.
  • Support the implementation of recommendations from consultants and the Quality Assurance team as directed by the Director of Nursing Services.

  • Aid in the development, review, revision, and updating of individual resident Care Plans.
  • Ensure timely notification to the resident's attending physician and legal guardian/representative regarding critical changes in the resident's condition.

  • Address complaints and grievances from families and inform the Director of Nursing Services as needed.
    • Assess emergencies and assist in executing emergency protocols.
    • Maintain a clean and safe unit area for resident comfort and convenience, ensuring necessary supplies and equipment are available for nursing care.

    • Assist in notifying physicians of any resident incidents or unusual occurrences, ensuring all documentation is completed as per established policies.
    • Collaborate with the Charge Nurse on investigations of alleged abuse or unusual incidents as per established protocols.
    • Administer and monitor intravenous medications as prescribed.
    • Support the Charge Nurse and nursing staff in executing nursing procedures as required.
    • Assist in the admission, transfer, and discharge processes of residents.
    • Help address findings and deficiencies identified by the Department of Health Services, Consultants, and the Quality Assurance Team.

    • Participate in completing various assessments, including restraint, pain, oral, psychotropic, bowel and bladder assessments, and weekly evaluations of intake and output.
    • Ensure that all nursing notes are documented in a clear and descriptive manner reflecting the care provided and the resident's response.
    • Attend and engage in staff meetings and in-service training sessions.
    • Perform other duties as directed by the Director of Nursing Services or Administrator.

SUPERVISION

  • Conduct resident rounds to verify appropriate care is being delivered, making necessary adjustments.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff to identify and rectify issues, enhancing resident care.
  • Assist in physician rounds as necessary.
  • Support the Charge Nurse in reallocating assignments during nursing shortages.
  • Oversee and guide nursing personnel.
  • Participate in the evaluation and disciplinary processes of nursing staff.

CONSUMER SERVICE

  • Present a professional image to residents and families through appropriate attire, behavior, and communication.
  • Adhere to company standards for addressing consumer concerns.
  • Ensure the protection of all resident rights.
