Position Overview

The Mammography Technologist will be responsible for performing specialized radiographic procedures and ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the imaging process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare examination rooms and equipment, ensuring all necessary materials are ready for patient use.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of imaging equipment and work areas.
  • Assist in the preparation of chemical mixtures for mammography procedures.
  • Support radiologists during imaging procedures, including the administration of necessary materials.
  • Educate patients about the imaging process, positioning them appropriately and providing assistance as needed.
  • Utilize prescribed techniques for conducting X-rays, adjusting equipment settings as required.
  • Verify the quality of images before submission to the imaging system.
  • Monitor patients during procedures, documenting any unusual occurrences or changes in condition.
  • Manage inventory of supplies and perform administrative tasks as needed.
  • Participate in quality control testing and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
  • Train and mentor new staff members, fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Adhere to confidentiality standards and maintain a professional appearance at all times.
  • Demonstrate reliability by adhering to scheduled work hours and attendance policies.
  • Assist in patient transport during emergencies and coordinate necessary arrangements.
  • Contribute to the overall care plan by considering the physiological and developmental needs of patients.
  • Be prepared to adjust work hours as necessary to meet departmental needs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
QualificationsEducation:
  • Graduate from an accredited Radiographic Technology program.
Experience:
  • Minimum of one year of experience in Radiography, with at least one year in mammography.
  • Completion of 15 Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits specific to breast imaging within the last three years.
  • Documentation of performing 200 mammograms within the past two years.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to perform physical tasks associated with the role, including standing, walking, and lifting.
  • Strong teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and understanding the English language.
  • Capability to prioritize tasks and respond promptly to patient needs.
Licenses and Certifications:
  • ARRT certification in Radiography and Mammography required upon hire.
  • Licensure by the appropriate state regulatory body required upon hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire.
