Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Endoscopy Technician to join our team at the University of Virginia. As an Endoscopy Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting physicians and nurses with the preparation and setup of specialized procedures and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support physicians, physician assistants, and nurses during invasive procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain the endoscopy area and procedures rooms, ensuring a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Anticipate instrument needs and assist with the setup and operation of specialized equipment.
  • Assist with emergent transportation needs and maintain quality control documentation records for equipment and reprocessing.
  • Participate in hospital improvement activities and maintain necessary skills and competencies.
Requirements
  • High School Graduate or Equivalent.
  • No experience required, but 2 years of endoscopy experience may be accepted in lieu of nursing assistant or EMT licensure requirement.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
  • Must successfully complete the Society of Gastroenterology Nurses Association (SGNA) Associates Program within 60 days of start date.
Physical Demands

The job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequent bending, stooping, and traveling. Repetitive motion is also required for decontamination of instrumentation, lifting instrument sets, and pushing/pulling 50-100lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, cold, heat, blood/body fluids, and infectious disease.
