Position Overview:
The Mammography Ultrasound Specialist is responsible for delivering exceptional patient care by conducting ultrasound examinations under the supervision of a physician, aimed at detecting abnormalities for accurate patient diagnosis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure accurate patient identification and verify examination orders while preparing patients for procedures.
- Utilize appropriate imaging techniques to provide timely, safe, and high-quality diagnostic evaluations.
- Demonstrate proficiency in performing exams across all age groups, including neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics, adhering to established protocols and ACR guidelines.
- Operate all clinical equipment within the department with expertise.
- Complete and document medically acceptable exams in accordance with ACR guidelines, maximizing diagnostic information while minimizing exam duration.
- Adhere to protocols regarding medical necessity, coding, and billing, ensuring proper consent is obtained when necessary, and documenting any relevant events for quality assurance.
- Maintain a current quality control program for ACR and report any equipment malfunctions or issues.
- Practice safety measures in body substance protection, equipment sanitation, sterile techniques, and the disposal of expired materials.
- Accurately complete all required documentation, including timestamps and image storage.
Minimum Qualifications:
- ARRT Registry or ARDMS Registry required, with the ARDMS including successful completion of one relevant registry beyond physics (options include OB, abdominal, neuro, breast, and vascular).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in ultrasound and mammography.
Physical Requirements:
- Capable of carrying, hearing/listening, lifting, manual dexterity, pulling/pushing, seeing, sitting, speaking, and standing.
