POSITION SUMMARY:
The Quality Assurance Coordinator operates within the Probation Services Department and is accountable to the Probation Services Supervisor.
This role is pivotal in establishing and executing quality assurance protocols, overseeing interventions aimed at enhancing the fidelity of probation staff, and devising strategies to foster ongoing quality enhancement across the department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The core responsibilities of this position include:
Overseeing all facets of quality assurance to guarantee the provision of suitable, high-quality, and efficient services to probation clients and stakeholders, with a focus on upholding and improving program fidelity and integrity.
Formulating and ensuring adherence to relevant policies and evidence-based practices; providing training and mentorship to staff on evidence-based methodologies.
Drafting, revising, and updating policy/process manuals and documents to support evidence-based conclusions.Implementing consistent and effective data collection methods and developing monitoring reports to assess and track quality, completion, and outcomes.
Facilitating peer and executive continuous quality improvement and aiding in the creation of measurable performance standards and indicators for programs and services.
Managing quality assurance obligations related to probation grants.Contributing to the formulation of department policies and procedures.
Engaging in the interview and selection process for job candidates; assisting in the training and orientation of new personnel.
Participating in training sessions, court activities, projects, and committees as needed or required.
Completing additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS:
Knowledge of:
evidence-based practices and best practices in community corrections; principles of human behavior, social learning theory, group dynamics, assessment, and case management; legal terminology and court procedures.
Ability to:
produce clear and precise reports and other professional documentation; maintain positive public relations as a court representative; establish and sustain effective working relationships with colleagues and job contacts; build rapport with offenders/defendants from diverse social and economic backgrounds; physically execute an arrest; engage in training to properly utilize a conducted energy weapon (Taser) and pepper spray; undergo a physical examination that includes an agility assessment.
Skill in:
interviewing offenders/defendants, victims, and others; preparing statistical and narrative reports; data entry; operating a computer; applying job-related software programs; self-defense.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:
This position necessitates an appropriate blend of formal education, additional training, and work experience.
There is no specific level or combination of these elements that guarantees success in or qualification for the position.
For illustrative purposes only, an acceptable combination of qualifications for this role may include a bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology, criminal justice, or a related field, along with three years of experience as a probation or parole officer.
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
ORAS certification, and completion of a three-day EPICS training. Licensure from the Ohio Counselor and Social Work Board or from the Ohio Credentialing Board is preferred.
A valid state of Ohio motor vehicle operator's license is required to perform job-related essential functions. Private insurance is necessary if a personal vehicle is used for job-related tasks.
SCOPE OF SUPERVISION:
This position does not entail supervisory duties or responsibilities.
EQUIPMENT OPERATED:
Two-way radios, handcuffs, and ballistic vests. Vehicle, computer, calculator, copier, fax, telephone, and other general office equipment.
